According to the brother of the deceased Mussa Morris Phiri described the death of his brother as a great loss to the entire family.
“We will miss him a lot; he was the person who was supporting our family. He was like a pillar, we have lost a pillar. Our pillar is gone, our father is gone, we were all depending on him,” he said.
Malawi Broadcasting Corporation – MBC condoled the bereaved family with the sum of MK100, 000.00. One of the persons who was together nominated with Pato in MBC Innovations Awards 2016 Chimwemwe Mwenyemasi described late Pato as the person who used to inspire young entrepreneurs in the country.
“He was my role model, he used to inspire youths in business circles. Following my nomination in MBC Innovations Awards, I could ask Pato to buy me materials in China,” said Mwenyemasi adding that he used to go to Pato to get advice.
Speaking to MBC, one of the Limbe businesspersons Dan Chale who was also close to Pato described the late as a mentor and innovative when it comes to business ideas.
“We will miss him as a businessman; he was a hard worker and used to encourage his friends to work hard. He was man of the people. He was a pillar to business fraternity,” said Chale.
Besides, Group Village Headman Ndembe described the death of Pato as a big blow to the entire community as he was instrumental on development activities.
Born in 1976, Patrick Charles Phiri is survived by a wife and four children. He hailed from Ndembe Village, Traditional Authority Mpama in Chiradzulu district. Until his death Pato was the owner of Viking Shop in Limbe, Blantyre.
