Mphiya and Konala won in Health and Agriculture categories respectively, and the China training in their respective fields was part of their prices. The two also received K1 million and trophies, each.
Speaking to MBC at Chileka International Airport in Blantyre, on their arrival, both Mphiya and Konala described the training as “an eye opener”.
“China is very advanced in as far as agricultural innovations are concerned, and my training has really opened my eyes. I will work hard to implement the knowledge that I have acquired on the ground,” he said while praising MBC for introducing the awards that he said are helping in transforming ordinally Malawians into public figures.
On her part, Mphiya said she would be working on a report with recommendations which she hope to submit to health authorities in the country.
“If implemented, these recommendations can go a long way in uplifting Malawi’s health service delivery to enviable levels,” she said.
During their departure, MBC Director of News and Programs Vincent Khonyongwa said as MBC they were very pleased to learn that the Republic of China had lived up to its promise of providing training to those people who have won the MBC Innovations Awards.
MBC Innovations Awards is an annual event and the winners from various categories under the China sponsorship go to China to learn and upgrade their skills for them to excel in their various fields.
