The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) says it welcomes a generous and timely contribution of US$4.5 million (3.4 billion) from the Government of the United States that will support 217,000 people facing severe hunger in Malawi during the region-wide food crisis.

The Chairperson of the Roads Authority (RA), Brown Mpinganjira, has asked the contractor of the Zomba-Jali-Phalombe-Chitakale road Fargo Limited  to take corrective measures on sections of the road which are not up to standard.
