Police hunting murderers in Mzimba

Police in Mzimba are investigating deaths of two men who died separately on Saturday and Sunday at Manyamula area in the district.


According to Police Spokesperson in Mzimba, Botha Peter, on Saturday, Daniel Mtonga aged 32 of Gwera Village, T/A Chindi in the district was found dead in a bush located in the village. The following day, Yotam Nyirenda aged 35 of Zebedia village in the area of Paramount Chief Mbelwa in the district, was found dead along the road.

"According to Daniel’s father, two weeks ago, his son, who was a carpenter, left his home for carpentry work at Chamnguma area. After completion of the work, he started off to his home. However, he did not reach home. After making follow up, his body was found lying dead in the said bush. He had two cuts on the head,” said the Peter.

"While on the other hand, Nyirenda, who was a watchman, was found lying dead along the road near a shop he was manning as a watchman on Sunday," said police.

Besides, it is reported that Nyirenda left his post for a drinking joint and met his fate while coming from that drinking joint.

"The deceased persons had deep wounds on the head and back respectively. Postmortem results for both deaths indicate death due to severe loss of blood," added Botha.
