Malawi's Vice President Everton Chimulirenji says planting trees in Malawi’s disaster prone areas is the only lasting solution to climate change induced disasters.


The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) on Thursday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with non profit making organisation Creative Centre for Community Mobilization (CRECCOM) that would see the public broadcaster extending the ‘Tilekeni Tiphunzire’ radio programme to the television platform, MBC TV.


Malawi President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Wednesday paid tribute to the country's longest serving Speaker of the National Assembly, Nelson Khonje, who died Sunday aged 95 and was interred at his home village in Mwanza before thousands of people and dignitaries.


Blantyre and Thyolo secondary schools that were recently closed following students’ violent protests are set to re-open, Education, Science and Technology Minister William Susuwele Banda  announced Monday, after touring the institutions and getting down to the root causes of the torchings and vandalism of property.
