Managing Director for Wills and Alpha Limited, William Sichinga said since they started selling the tea, they have had a positive reception from customers.

“We have had people calling us to appreciate how Williams’s tea has healed them from several ailments.” Said Sichinga.

He further said their tea is produced using pure premium grade black tea which is rarely available for sell to locals in the market.

However, the Managing Director bemoaned the lack of patriotism from local buyers who prefer foreign tea products as compared to local ones.

Guest of Honour at the launch, Ross McDonald of the Tea and Coffee Merchants Association of Malawi pointed lack of interest from local consumers as a setback to the thriving of the industry in the country.

“The challenge is that almost 100 percent of Malawi’s tea is exported. But the best market we can have for tea is right here in the country. Locals should increase the intake of locally produced tea.” McDonald remarked.

One customer who has been using the product for some time, Mrs Emily James said using Williams’s tea helped overcome a serious heart condition which troubled her for close to three years.

Sichinga even challenged the government to conduct a research on the claims made by his company about treating several ailments.

“We are ready to fund a government research which will authentic the advantages of Williams tea that we have stated.” Vowed Sichinga.
The launch was attended by captains from the tea industry, businesspersons and marketers.
