The President said this at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre when he was receiving ICT equipment on behalf of Malawians from FDH bank which will help the youth in community technical colleges.
The Malawi leader further said the donation has come at a right time Government is working hard to make sure that the youth are empowered in digital skills as the world is migrating to digital age.
“ICT is a defining factor for youth development and empowerment in this digital age, skills development and community colleges is our source of hope for the youth in this country,” said Mutharika.
President Mutharika added that the community technical colleges are slowly setting an industrial revolution in the country as it is creating skilled society, jobs and industrialization.
“The idea of community technical colleges means that we are targeting all youth across this nation, we are dealing away with rural marginalization,” said Mutharika adding that taking ICT equipment to community colleges means taking digital development to the community as it is driving people to modernity and taking the youth into the digital future.
The President, however, calls all other players in the private sector to follow the example of FDH Holdings Limited.
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer for FDH Financial Holdings Limited Thomson Mpinganjira said FDH is committed to help in the development of the country. He said FDH bank is very active in the education sector citing example of sponsoring Top of the Class on MBC TV and Radio.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Labour, Youth and Manpower Development Henry Mussa said his Ministry will take care of the equipment to make sure that it has really benefited the intended youth in country.
The ICT equipment President Mutharika recieved on behalf of Malawians from FDH Holdings Limited includes 42 computers, projectors among others worthy of 19.4 million Kwacha.
