Minister of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining Bright Msaka made the call last evening when he represented His Excellency the President Professor Peter Mutharika atIftari on the second day of fasting Ramadan.
“The government and people of Malawi are with the Muslim community in this important month and also the message of gratitude for the role that the Muslim community is playing in the development of this country socially and economically,” said Msaka.
The Minister said the success, peace and prosperity of the Muslim community will also be a success of the nation.
Msakasaid he was happy to see two main Muslim groups in the country; Muslim Association of Malawi and Qadriya Muslim Association of Malawi by saying the unity of Muslims among themselves is the beginning of unity in Malawi.
The Minister said the month of Ramadhan should give Muslims an opportunity to reflect on how they can continue to contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
The event was organized by the Egyptian Ambassador to Malawi Maher El Adawy.
In his remarks, El Adawysaid Ramadan is a month to promote peace and forgiveness among others.
