The Chairperson for IWAM, the wife to the Egyptian Ambassador to Malawi Shams El-Adawy delivered the certificate in Lilongwe to Violet Chinkono an executive member of BEAM Trust who received on behalf of the First Lady.
Among other things, IWAM in collaboration with BEAM Trust have sponsored 10 girls to pursue their education.
“Over the past two years IWAM has worked with BEAM to sponsor 10 girls (5 in 2016 and 5 in 2017) with their education who could not have gone to school due to their financial condition. We are a variety of ladies making an impact by reaching out to the society. We are glad to have a large influx of Malawian women that have joined which is good because they can tell us more about where the need is and what projects to support in the society,” she said.
The International Women’s Association of Malawi - IWAM has however pledged to continue working hand in hand with Beautify Malawi Trust - BEAM to uplift the livelihood of women, children and orphans in Malawi.
For her part, Violet Chinkono commended IWAM for recognizing the commendable work being done by Her Excellency the First Lady Dr Gertrude Mutharika.
Membership of the International Women’s Association of Malawi is made up of women in the diplomatic and business communities both indigenous and foreigners.
