Armed robbers have raided Bangwe Weaving Factory in Blantyre.

Spokesperson for Limbe Police, Widson Nhlane said, over the weekend, unknown people invaded the premises and stole property worth over K 1-Million and ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Nhlane said the robbers tied the watchmen before breaking into the factory. He further said police have since instituted investigation on the matter.

Henderson Nyondo who is the centre manager for Bangwe Weaving Factory said the factory employs about 80 percent of persons with disability and this robbery will delay the progress of the work that takes place there.

“We would like to call upon well wishers to assist us get back on track. These robbers have gone away with 2 main computers in the finance department and one computer in the sales department. We have lost all the information in those computers. They have also taken some items that we had made so we have lost stock. Our factory is a bread earner as we impart skills to people with disability so without all these, we can’t work effectively, he explained.
