Carlsberg Malawi in conjunction with a US non-governmental organization CitiHope International has donated medicines and medical equipment worth 520 Million Kwacha to Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe.

Presenting the donation was Trade and Marketing Manager for Carlsberg Malawi Frank Binauli who said the influx of patients in the country's health centres is a burden facing many referral hospitals, hence companies have a responsibility to help government in supplying medicines for the well-being of Malawians.

“Carlsberg is coming in because we are to do the logistics for the drugs that come in, locally. We are the ones that are looking into the transportation of these drugs and we have pumped in another K15 million to assist in making sure that these drugs go to their intended places,” he said.

Jonathan Ngoma is Hospital Director for Kamuzu Central Hospital and says he will ensure that the medicines are put to their intended use.

“The donation that we have received will alleviate the problems that we were facing here because we were having erratic supply of drugs. We have received some antibiotics and these will help treat infectious diseases. As a hospital, we will make sure that these drugs are well stored and are prescribed for the benefit of the patients,” he said.
