This comes amid the background that most of the international artists who are booked for such events do not turn up ending disappointing Malawi`s fun lovers.
But according to the festival director, Soldier sir Lucius Banda, said all about the artist has been finalized.
The Sand Music Festival is slated for 30th October to 1st November at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach in Salima.
“You guys from the media have been pushing us on whether Busy Signal was coming; it hasn’t been easy to keep the news under wraps.
“Now I can confirm that the Jamaican artist has been secured to perform in Salima, Malawi,” Banda told MBC.
Banda a legendary musician himself said they took time to make the announcement because they didn’t want to give the public a “half-baked story” before the booking was sealed.
“We’re excited to have Busy Signal in Malawi when he’s at the peak of his music career, it doesn’t usually happen to have an international act in the country when they are in great demand,” he indicated.
According to the Sand Festival director, they have partnered Zimbabwean promoters to bring down the “Dreams of Brighter Days” hit singer whose real name is Glendale Goshia Gordon to Malawi.
The Jamaican singer is billed to perform in Zimbabwe a week before his scheduled Malawian tour and according to Banda, the artist will be in the country 72 hours before the festival opening.
“We will be sharing the costs with our Zimbabwean counterparts,” revealed Banda.
Adding their voice on the same the country’s airline, Malawian Airlines, one of the sponsors of the Sand Music Festival, has since confirmed that Busy Signal will land on 29th October and leave on 2nd November.
This will be the first time Sand Music Festival will be bringing a top artist of Busy Signal’s caliber into the country.
International artists that have previously graced the lakeshore festival have been coming from South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Known as one of the artists leading the contemporary dancehall movement, Busy Signal has been a large part of the scene since 2003.
While in Malawi, Busy Signal will visit some orphanages and interact with local artists, according to Banda.
Banda hinted that some of the artists to perform at the Sand Music Festival include Black Missionaries, Skeffa Chimoto, Lucius Banda, Great Angels Choir, Danny K (Zambia), Jah Prayzer (Zimbabwe), Nepman, Ethel Kamwendo-Banda, Lulu, Piksy, Blakjak, Thocco Katimba, Wendy Harawa, Edgar ndi Davis, Soul Raiders Band and Sally Nyundo.
