The cause of the fire is yet to be not known.
Mulanje District Council Chairperson Emmanuel Bambala said the hostel accommodated 20 medical and nursing students.
“Some of the property that has been destroyed includes computers, mattresses, beds, beddings and pots,” said Bambala.
There was no immediate comment from both Mulanje Police Spokesperson, Gracium Ngwira and Mulanje District Health Officer, Khuliena Kabwere .
From the pictures sent by a media officer for Mulanje Mountain Conservation Trust (MMCT) Kondwani Chamwala, sympathizers and fire brigades could be seen trying to minimize the damage of the property by all means possible.
