According to Pedzesayi Zembeneko Deputy Police Relations Officer at Limbe Police, on Wednesday 3 August around 7:pm, Daniel Mandala (suspect) bought bananas at Limbe Petroda filling station using a fake K500 note.

“The vendor recognized that it was a fake note and immediately shouted for help. Mandala was arrested by police officers who were nearby,” said Zembeneko.

“When searched he was found with 9 thousand 5 hundred fake Malawian bank notes in denomination of 5 hundred and 3 thousand 4 hundred fake Malawian bank notes in denomination of 2 hundred,” explained Zembeneko.

Meanwhile, the suspect has been charged with section 23 (2) (a) of Reserve Bank Act.
