Speaking during the launch of the awareness campaign in Chiradzulu, Southern Region Coordinator for Health and Nutrition for World Vision Malawi –Samson Semu said the goal of the campaign is to raise awareness about HIV testing and counseling.

“We are trying to mobilize communities to realize the importance of going for HIV Counseling and Testing to achieve the 90/90 strategy,” said Semu adding that it is good for people to know their status so that they may prepare for better future.

World Vision is working together with the District Health Office to fight the pandemic. According to Moses Ngwira Environmental Health Officer at Chiradzulu District Hospital said the campaign is important as it is in line with government agenda of fighting HIV and AIDS in the country.

“We have counselors who go in communities and sensitize the communities about HIV and AIDS. They also empower people to know their status through counseling,” said Ngwira.

On his part, Senior Chief Mpama said as the leader of the area he will make sure that people in the area are fully aware of the pandemic as it has impact on the community by reducing labour productivity on development.

Awareness Campaign by World Vision Malawi is dedicated to educating the community about different methods of prevention, treatment of the disease, the importance of tolerance toward those living with HIV and AIDS, among others.

The campaign therefore seeks to help address lack of access to HIV and AIDS information in the area of Senior Chief Mpama.

The awareness campaign is fully funded by World Vision.
