The Bank’s Managing Director Charles Asiedu was speaking in Blantyre during a family day for its employees. The activity marked one of the many events lined up this week as Ecobank celebrates 10 years of existence in the country.
Asiedu said peace prevailing in the country and stable macro-economic factors have helped the institution become the fourth best performing bank in Malawi.
“When we look at our current position on the market as the fourth best bank in the country, we surely know this feat hasn’t come on a silver platter, it has taken effort of all of us as Ecobank family to contribute towards this success and we look forward to do even more,” said Asiedu.
The day started with a thanksgiving service led by Bishop Akinola Fowewe. This was followed by sporting games which were enjoyed by the members of staff and their families.
Another highlight of the day was a football match between BBC (Patience Namadingo’s team) against Ecobank team (Captained by the MD) which composed of the staff and their family members. The match ended 4-3 in favour of BBC.

On Monday (13th August) the bank has organised a parade in town to sensitize the market on some of its products and services. As the bank continues with the celebrations, on Wednesday it has some corporate social responsibility activities and capping it all on Friday the bank is set to bring the country’s commercial city to a standstill with the celebrations’ glitz and glamour as it plans to award its loyal customers and outstanding employees at the gala night.
