The festivities started in the morning with a blood donation exercise at Broadcasting House (BH) Chichiri studios.
"We saw it fit to invite Malawi Blood Transfusion to demonstrate that we are always thinking of our fellow Malawians, and as the mother broadcaster it is our duty to show compassion to those who cannot celebrate with us." said the Controller of Radio 2 FM, Mervis Senga.
Students from Chichiri Secondary School and Blantyre Secondary School were among the volunteers who donated blood.
The main event started around noon at BH with a luncheon and live performances.
Robert Chiwamba resited two poems that had the crowd laughing and clapping with their creative humor and intriguing message.
Floor Steppers shook the ground with their eye-catching dance moved.
Lilongwe based musician Lulu performed two of his famous songs getting an applause from the audience.
Gospel artist Patience Namadingo performed a song composed specifically for the event with a humorous and strong message.
Director of News and Current Affairs for MBC, Geoffrey Kazembe also exercised his vocals by doing a duet with Lulu singing happy birthday.
In his speech, Kazembe commended Rab Processors and Bakhresa for providing items that were donated to patients and Sanwecka for providing printed golf shirts for the event.
As one of the first presenters of Radio 2, Geoffrey Kazembe said the station has evolved over the years.
"Radio 2 acts like a model; the station provides a platform for local talented musicians to showcase their creativity. As the first FM radio station in the country since 17 July 1997, Radio 2 has the highest listenership, reaching all parts of Malawi, entertaining, educating and informing the listener’s." said Director of News Geoffrey Kazembe.
Kazembe described the corporation technic of employment as inclusive and unbiased to race or gender.
The fun continued with an after party at club Mustang Sally in Blantyre. Radio 2 DJs took over the booth, keeping people glued to the dancefloor with non-stop club bangers.
