The Branch manager was seen carefully explaining to the lucky ladies how the bank values them and wanted to give them a special treat for International Women's Day.
Speaking to MBC one of the first female customers Fatima Khalil Phiri from Machinjiri said she was delighted with the gesture. "I was taken by surprise. But I am grateful because I love this bank", she said. Khalil said International Women's Day is important because it recognises the hard work that women do.
Another female customer who only identified herself as Stella from Zingwangwa Township in Blantyre thanked the bank for the kind gesture. She said the day is important and women should be celebrated for everything they do.
Rennie Harawa from Ndirande, The third woman who walked into the bank to simply deposit money said she was not expecting the NBS gift. She said the day is important for women who need to stand together.
"Women are strong and need to stand together at all times," said Harawa.
The Customer Experience Manager for NBS Bank Tamanda Longwe said the day is not only about celebrating the women but celebrating their achievements and equality the women deserve. She said the bank recognises the important role the women play and therefore chose to celebrate with the female customers.
"Women deserve to be recognised as equals and be given opportunities in everything," said Longwe.
Longwe said the bank has always been interested to support women in different ways. She added that the bank has several products which are tailored only for women groups which can help to boost their businesses.
The Women's Day gifts were given to lucky women in all the NBS Bank branches.
