The current initial phase of the project, which saw close to 2300 youths recruited into civil service and parastatals, was expected to phase out on June 30, 2019.

The project, which was billed at MK4.8 billion aims at curbing youth unemployment.

According to the State House Director of Communication Bright Molande, the President disclosed this after meeting the leadership of the University of Malawi. Molande said this will greatly assist students who graduated from the university to secure job opportunities.

According to the International Labour Organization, the youth unemployment rate in Malawi from 2007 to 2017 is estimated at 7.97 per cent.
