The Co-founder of the art shop Terri Mashanda said the new shop has been placed at designated place to attract international delegates to appreciate the local arts.
“The opening of this shop at the hotel is more strategic because we have customers that come in from the international who just come for conferences and they leave so we want to reach those customers before they leave so that they acquire Malawi art,” said Mashanda.
Mashanda said this would also in one way boost tourism industry in Malawi as result bringing more foreign currency into the country.
“When these delegates come into Malawi they will be able to appreciate the local arts right in the hotel so in return we are promoting local artist,” she said.
She said since the opening of the first art in August 2014, the response has been overwhelming.
“The response has been great mainly from expatriates who were already living in Malawi and the Malawians themselves I am sure there are not very much into arts but I know there is a new growing need of Africa and Malawian arts,” said Mashanda.
Mashanda said Tindoz d' Afrique is on a mission to assist these artists and ensure that their works finds the right market here in Malawi and abroad.
“Tindoz d' Afrique also assists with business training and counseling on how to manage their small businesses. For a business like Tindoz d' Afrique to succeed, it needs a steady reliable supply chain from these chosen artists, so it is of mutual interest that these artists develop into viable micro enterprises,” she said.
Tindoz de Africa art is a passion from within the heart whose vision is to promote and market African art, craft and other artifacts coming from Malawians.
It focuses on talented youth, women, and other artists whose works and talent struggle to find expression in Markets.
The official opening of the new art shop is expected to take place on September 4, where government officials, diplomats, business people among others are expected to attend.
