Speaking during the awards ceremony, National Bank Chief Executive Officer, George Partridge, thanked the employees for portraying a dedicated spirit to the bank’s service.

“In the early 90’s, it was simple to stay with us because we were only two banks, us and Commercial bank. In the 2000’s when other players joined the market, you would have chosen to jump ship and work there. But you remained loyal to National bank,” said Partridge, “we do not take it for granted.”

The CEO further commended the 22 awardees for being the hub behind the success and growth of the bank. He cited the infrastructural development, initiatives such as the MO 626, acquiring of Inde bank and most recently, being awarder as the 15th most admirable brand in Africa out of 500 competitors.

“Looking at all this, it is not a small achievement. All the achievements are fruits of having loyal, committed and proud employees who believe in the bank’s ability to shine” remarked Partridge.

Partridge further urged new employees to emulate the example set by the 22 employees. He also asked the awarded workers to serve as role models and counsellors to young people who have just joined the bank.

Making remarks on behalf of the awardees, one of the recipients, Dickson Munthali thanked the bank for recognising their effort.

He also praised the bank for offering its employees an opportunity to further their studies and training them in various disciplines which have made them top cream performers.

“Most of us joined the bank as secondary school leavers, but in the 25 years we have been with the bank, we have managed to get qualifications which make us stand out as professionals.” Remarked Munthali.

National Bank is one of the veteran commercial banks in Malawi with over 30 service centres and has over 900 employees.
