The Minister disclosed this during an interface meeting with the contractor, Mota- Engil at the camp site in Lilongwe.
”Government is keen to see this project taking off very sooN. Treasury should be able to release money for compensation,” said Kaisaira.

An estimated 107 million Kwacha is needed for compensation.
This is in line with government’s priority to have a good road network in the country.
A contract has been awarded to MOTA-Engil to upgrade the 95 kilometre road from Lilongwe Old Airport up to Kasiya to an all weather tarmac road.
This road connects Lilongwe, Mchinji and Kasungu districts.

When completed, the road will spur economic activities as farmers will easily transport their farm produce for sale in the capital city.
Water pipelines, electricity power poles and telephone lines along the road corridor also need to be relocated or moved.
