According to eye witnesses Muyibegi is said to have engaged into a protracted argument with his girlfriend before hitting her with a wood on her head at a bar in Kaigwazanga Trading Centre.

Muyibegi is said to have accused his girlfriend of having another boyfriend and the two picked a fight at the bar, but when onlookers wanted to separate the two, Muyibegi told them to stay away and mind their own business.

Mchinji Police public relations officer Moses Nyirenda said Patricia's body was found in the early hours of May 4 within the village.

Postmortem done at Mchinji district hospital revealed that Patricia died due to head injuries resulting from heavy beating.

The suspect Mayibegi who is still at large will be charged with murder.

This murder is the third in Mkanda area alone in recent times, another being the murder of Janet Chitedze who was brutally murdered and her body mutilated by her cousin Medison Selemani.
