Spokesperson for the Bureau, Norman Fulatira said more Malawians are flocking to the registration centers to get registered, a sign that the exercise will achieve its target.

Fulatira said the program has been deployed into its second phase that will take place in five districts and next week, the registration exercise will move to the remaining 6 districts in the same phase in the Central Region.

Fulatira said he was hopeful that by the end of the first phase, the Bureau will have registered citizens of this nation and foreigners will not be part of those registered as citizens of the country.

“We expect Malawians to be patriotic enough to work with us in eradicating foreigners from the system. They should be patient because deployment is a gradual process and we will communicate to them the dates that centers will be open for registration in their areas,” he said.

The Spokesperson applauded traditional leaders and people of the community who are offering tireless support to make sure that the registration exercise is a success.

“As of now, we want to thank people of the community and the traditional leaders that have provided assistance in verifying subjects as Malawians. This process is about identifying Malawians and we cannot do without the rural structures and support," said Fulatira.
