Dausi was speaking in Dedza during sensitization meeting with the District Executive Committee on ATI law and other bills which government intends to introduce in Parliament.
The Minister said the ATI is permitting public scrutiny of government related documents whereby breaking a culture of secrecy in Councils.
The Minister noted the ATI law is not only useful to journalists but also to rural masses who stand to benefit as they are going to be able to access information on use of Council funds and hold office bearers accountable
Dausi warned Council officials to refrain from the acts of corruption by awarding contracts to inexperienced contractors after collecting kickbacks from them.
In his remarks, District Commissioner for Dedza, James Manyetera commended government for conducting meetings across the country to inform people on ATI and other related laws.
