Gani scored 39 points to emerge the winner in men’s category while Carol Banda shrugged off Roza Mbilizi to win in women section with 28 points.
Mbilizi settled for second with 26b points.
Banda, who has been played second fiddle to Mbilizi, was visibly on cloud nine when she was declared winner in their category.
"It feels good to be the winner. As much as I didn't expect to win, I prepared to play and started off well and my shots were going straight. It is at this point that I realized that I would win the championship as most participants were struggling with the scourging sun," said Banda, who just like other winners in both categories, received TNM E-wimax internet routers.
This was the second time for the country's premier mobile service provider to host golfers at the country’s only pro-am golf course under the sponsorship of Smart Data, TNM"s bouquet of mobile internet services.
The company's Chief Commercial Officer Dan Makata said last Saturday's individual stablefold tee-off underlined TNM's continued commitment to engaging the corporate entities and individual customers using their Smart Data.
Makata hinted of a commitment to sponsor a tournament every summer in the lake district golf course.
"We want to make this tournament an annual event and we hope to be here next year. Today's overwhelming participation has really encouraged us. Mlambe Golf Course takes up 58 golfers but look we are over 100 golfers this entails that we are on track and our customers should expect more tournaments," said Makata.
"Apart from having fun, TNM uses golf tournaments to interact with its customers to promote its data products and services.
“The Smart Data revolution that TNM is pioneering in Malawi is about providing customers with a convenient, high-speed mobile internet,” he said.
Kamoto said TNM was offering Malawians affordable smart data products and services through its combined platform as mobile data provider and Internet Services Provider (ISP).
Saturday’s tournament attracted about 107 golfers. The company has hosted similar Smart Data-powered tournaments at Gymkana in Zomba, Nchalo in Chikwawa and Blantyre.
