Zimbabwe-based Malawi’s budding star Gerald Phiri Jnr attracts interest from South Africa`s top league Premier Soccer League (PSL) after impressing in the just ended Confederation of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) Cup held in North West, South Africa.

Phiri, is one the Malawian budding stars who had put up a brilliant performance in the tournament.

According to SoccerLaduma Gerald Phiri Jnr, son to former Flames striker, three PSL teams which were not disclosed have inquired about the youngster.

Premier Soccer League sides were out scouting at the COSAFA Cup in the North West, which ended on Saturday evening.

The Zimbabwean- based midfielder, who plays for CAPS United, has been to South Africa before as he once attended trials at SuperSport United, although the trial was not successful.

according to Southe Africa` online sports magazine soccerLaduma the three teams have not spoken to CAPS United yet.

"He is a 22 -year old skillful player who plays like either George Lebese or Ngele though he is more direct in his approach," the reported SoccerLaduma.

"Yes there are three teams who have enquired about the youngster and it will all depend on whether CAPS United agree to release him for trials or they want a team that wants to sign him directly without trials."

He was named man of the match in the final against Zambia in which Mozambique based Zicco Mkanda scored to lift the plate division title.

He scored the consolation goal against South Africa in a friendly match on May 22 in a 2-1 loss.
