Speaking during the handover ceremony at Ndirande Health Centre, Project Coordinator for Chipatala Robot Mtisunge Gondwe said the emergency equipment that has been provided will support the Chipatala Robot at the facility.

Gondwe said the equipment aims at providing immediate and sustainable assistance to children who are critically ill and need urgent attention before being referred to a major hospital.

“We are donating equipment to health facilities that are implementing the Chipatala Robot project in Blantyre and Chikwawa. Children that are brought to these health facilities and are critically ill should be able to receive high attention and hence the need to have such sophisticated equipment to save their lives,” said Gondwe.

Dr Medson Matchaya, Blantyer District Health officer, who was also present at the ceremony said the private sector is doing a good job in complementing government’s efforts in providing equipment that is vital in the provision of health care for children.

The items donated included Oxygen Concentrators, Nebulizers, Pulse Oximeters, Sanction Machines and Thermo Scan Machines that will help children that have diseases such as asthma, diabetes and malaria.
