“I am so delighted to meet the crop of employees that went to Egypt for study. I am sure that there is a positive impact on what they have learnt from the expertise in Egypt. As a country, we will continue to offer capacity building trainings,” said Ambassador El-Adawy.

The Ambassador also commended MBC management for churning out professional and high standard programming with minimal resources and was pleased to note that the institution is wearing a new face in some of its offices and front-line desks.

MBC Director General Aubrey Sumbuleta stressed that as the world continues to advance technologically, the training offered by the Egyptian government is of great importance and relevant to the changing times.

Sumbuleta then hailed the capacity building programmes provided by the Egyptian government to MBC employees which has propelled the mother broadcaster to stand tall amid rising competition in the media industry.

“The issue of capacity building in as far as broadcasting is concerned cannot be overemphasized. Technologically, the world is changing and broadcasting is getting more sophisticated so capacity building is a must to help us catch up with the rest of the world,” explained the Director General.

Ian Simbota, an employee of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation is a beneficiary of one such training provided by the Egyptian government to MBC and cited that the training opportunity accorded to him during his stay in Egypt managed to change his mindset on the way he perceives social media.

“The training I attained from Egypt will always remain relevant to me that I am still using the knowledge that I gained. I don’t look at social media as playground anymore, this is an office tool for me now,” explained Simbota.
