Super League of Malawi (Sulom) Treasurer, Tiya Somba Banda said his organization was impressed with the amount collected.

“We are happy with measures we had put in place in order to discourage free entry most by supporters of the two teams. Police and stewards did a commendable job on the day. We thanked fans for supporting the game by coming to watch it,” he said.

The participating teams and ground owners got K8.8 million each while Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and Sulom had got K3.5 million while Malawi National Council of Sports pocketed K1.7 million.

Police cashed K588, 000 and Stewards went away with K676,000.

The third derby failed to surpass the K50 million mark which was recorded at the stadium last season during the first maiden derby at the venue.

Some people have attributed to the low collection due to the threats Wanderers and Bullets had issued to deal with Sulom officials.

This was as result of what happened to Sulom Annual General Meeting where Wanderers officials were manhandled while Bullets official did not turn up after being warned.

The teams were surprised that both FAM and Sulom have not issued any statement to condemn the incident.
