Assu’s local agent Kingsley Prince Jere confirmed that the player died on Sunday in his home country after passing trials at South Africa’s top league side Golden Arrows.

He said his fellow agent in Cameroon Flavia confirmed to him in a telephone interview.

“He is dead. I called my fellow agent in Cameroon Flavia confirmed saying the he was attacked by a bout of malaria,’ Jere said.

The local player agent said it was devastating blow for him as he managed to build his credentials around him.

“He is one of my prominent players who made me what I am,” Jere said.

“I am really devastating with this development.”

Assu’s arrival in the country created hype at the Lali Lubani boys but the Cameroonian made more headlines after a heated tussle with the team over his contract.

He dumped Wanderers on controversial grounds after his demand for the payment of the balance of the signing on fee was being overlooked.

He made four apperance in the league scoring two goals.
