The goalie enjoyed excellent performance in the previous games which has taken coach DekleckNsakakuona’s side to second position in the Malawi’s top flight Pokopoko TNM Super League.
Soko was named August player of the month after he amassed 762 votes followed by Deus Nkutu on 392, BonageLweya at 214, Richard Chimbamba – 155 and Willie Sayenda – 142.
Presenting the prize to Soko,Chimwemwe MgangaTNM’s Distribution Manager,said the award is achieving its intended purpose.
“The incentive was launched to promote active engagement of soccer fans in additional to traditional activities like Zampira promotion. We are happy to underscore this commitment which has been shown through the active participation of supporters,” said Mganga.
Mganga said that the league sponsor remains committed to improve the game of football through the off-the-pitch initiatives.
“The game of football is multifaced with different stakeholders playing significant role to uplift it. Therefore, we understand that everyone needs to get involved and rewarded. As TNM we will continue to innovate to ensure that soccer fans, players and clubs all have a reason to smile every season,” he said.
Receiving his K100, 000 prize, Soko thanked supporters for voting for him and vowed to maintain his excellent form as a token of appreciation.
“I am delighted to be named August player of the month this is a great achievement. I appreciate TNM for bringing up this award which has got a huge impact on players. I want to thank supporters for voting for me and I promise to give back through my best performance,” said Soko.
Voters in the Player of the Month category stand a chance to win a trip to watch a Laliga match in Spain.
The draw to identify two winners for the Spain trip will be conducted on October 3, 2019.
Since the award was introduced, TNM has awarded three players; Babatunde Adepoju and Francisco Madinga both of Be Forward Wanderers and John Soko of Blue Eagles.
