After sponsoring a golf tournament at Kasasa Golf Club for the first time, officials said there were a number of areas under consideration for sponsorship both in and outside sports.

Airtel Malawi’s Director of Enterprise Business Rachael Mijiga said on the sidelines of the prize presentation to successful golfers on Saturday that Dwangwa has significantly contributed to the company’s success.

“There are a number of areas both in and outside sports that we are currently considering to sponsor. As for golf, we have already made a commitment to sponsor every two years at the course.

That requires us to say thank you to our subscribers here for being part and parcel to our achievements. We also need to be growing together with the people that have helped us keep standing.

Among the 3.5 million subscribers the company has country wide, Dwangwa has a fair contribution which calls for the company to reciprocate,” said Mijiga.

Mijiga said soon the company will engage in talks with the communities to express their social needs.

Mijiga added, “We shall inform the nation once a decision is made; however, what the people of Dwangwa should know is that we have made a commitment and will respond to a range of their social needs.

There are a number of such needs, including the need for desks in schools, in the area and these are some of the issues we have been responding to in a number of areas and we should be doing the same should need arise here.” He said.

She promised to continue enabling and empowering Malawians in realising their potential and increased productivity for economic development.

Currently, Airtel is sponsoring the country’s flag carrier netball team, the Queens, in a three-year contract to a tune of K360 million and an annual Airtel Rising Star football tournament for both boys and girls.
