The meeting is being organized under the auspices of His Excellency the President Prof. Peter Mutharika, who has committed himself to working to improve collaboration and cooperation in the field of African higher education.

This is in line with the recent commitments on the Sustainable Development Goals, launched at the United Nations, last month.

The discussion will feed into the African Ministers consultation at the first specialized Technical Committee on Education, Science and Technology to be held in Addis Ababa, later this month organized by the African Union Commission.
