Investors impressed with Malawi’s investment opportunities

Local investors can now afford a smile as government has lined up a number of investment initiatives set to woo international financiers to invest in the country as well as offer business loans.

Held under the theme; “Fostering Sustainable Business Partnerships”, the financiers networking forum is among others, expected to enhance collaboration between local investors and international financiers with the view of increasing private investment in Malawi.

 

“Business owners have been complaining of lack of funds , so this is their chance “ said Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Joseph Mwanamveka.

 

US Ambassador to Malawi Virginia Palmer, Stressed the importance of international cooperation in promoting trade, “Malawians need to embrace the concept of Public Sector Reforms that will in turn woo more investors” she said.

 

A representative from the Industrial Development Corporation, Peter Lekhethe spoke on behalf of International Financiers a South African Investment Bank. “ My organization is ready to help Malawian investors realise their investment dreams at low interest rates” he said.

 

The news brought smiles among local investors who have described the development as timely and a sigh of relief.

 

Most local investors have failed to make it big in business circles due to the prevailing high interest rates from banks and other lending institutions; a scenario that government has shown commitment to address as soon as possible.
