According to a press release, students were advised to leave the campus by 4:00pm Tuesday, July 19th.
The closure comes in following ‘illegal demonstrations’ conducted by the students due to the recent fees hike, which according to the press release had led to security threats.
On Monday Police in Zomba arrested 10 people in connections to the riots that occurred at the Chancellor College.
Police Eastern Region Spokesperson Joseph Sauka told MBC that the rioting students had damaged people’s property, caused some injuries to people and damaged some vehicles in the process.
