The parliamentarians expressed this through the Government Assurance and Reforms Committee of parliament which toured some ADMARC depots in the Southern Region.
The committee of parliament was sent on a mission to check the availability of maize in Admarc depots against government assurances that it has stocked all depots in preparation for this season.
The parliamentarians were appraised on steps that government has taken to stock all depots with maize to ensure that it is easily accessible.
“We have insured that many areas in the country have ADMARC depot and they have enough maize stock for easy accessibility hence the case of Luchenza and Chartland depot gives a reflection of what’s on the ground in all depot throughout the country “ said Chief Executive Officer for ADMARC Foster Mulumbe.
Wakuda Kamanga who represented Chair of the committee said his committee is satisfied with what it has seen in the depots.
He said as a committee they are particularly happy that government has made sure that everyone has access to maize through the provision of humanitarian stocks to those that cannot manage to purchase from ADMARC depots.
In the meantime, government is continuing to buy the staple grain from outside the country to ensure that the country has enough stocks to meet its requirements.
