The World Bank is to provide Malawi with a K36 billion grant and loan. An agreement to this effect has been signed in Lilongwe between the bank and the Malawi Government.
The funds will be used in the floods emergency recovery project. Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development Goodall Gondwe said the project will among other things enable government to rehabilitate public facilities.
Work Bank Disaster Risk Management Specialist Francis Nkoka said the project will address humanitarian challenges faced by the flood victims.
