Const. Florida Kalomba told the court that on August 5 2017, for reasons best known to himself, Paulos hit Julius with a metal bar on his forehead and on both of his arms.
Due to this, Julius sustained fractures on both arms and a cut on his forehead and was admitted at Nkhatabay district hospital.
Paulos was later arrested and on 15 August 2017 when he appeared before court, he pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful wounding which contravenes section 241(a) of the penal code.
In mitigation, he prayed for leniency saying he has a family that he looks after but magistrate Anthony Banda when passing sentence hinted on the fact that cases of this nature are becoming rampat in the district and as a measure to put a stop to it, those convicted should be severely punished.
At that point, he sentenced Paulos Lungu to three years imprisonment with hard labour.
Paulos Lungu 36, comes from Zaongo village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Chindi in Mzimba district.
