Speaking during the presentation ceremony, General Manager for PIL Enwell Kadango said his company support government in improving and saving lives through the health department.

Kadango said it was regrettable that people are suffering and were dying from simple ailments which could otherwise have been treated due to lack of basic medical facilities.

“We find it imperative for the private sector to assist government in alleviating problems that some of the hospitals face in the country. We have been doing this for two years and we will continue assisting the health sector in the country,” explained Kadango.

District Nursing Officer Felina Khonje thanked PIL for the timely donation which she said will ease the problems that women encounter in the theatre during a caesarean section.

“The theatre linen is a very important material when it comes to operation. The problem has been eased. We had one oxygen concentrator that was being shared in 4 wards. Now we will make sure that each ward has its own and this will help us save lives,” said Khonje.

PIL donated BP Machines, Sterilizing Indicator Tape, Oxygen Concentrators, theatre scrub suits, green drill sheets and 20 litre buckets to Thyolo district hospital and these items will be distributed to some of the 17 health centres that are in the district.
