Touring the construction works, Minister of Transport and Public Works, Jappie Mhango said government has put up measures to ensure the road is done to the highest standards and within the right time frame.
Mhango said so far 16-kilometers of the road have been completed which is a sign of tangible progress depending on the time set to complete the construction of this road.
“I am pleased with the progress of the work. The contractors have assured us that they will have done another addition of 15 kilometers of the road. We have been promised that they will work tirelessly to make up for the lost time that the failed to construct during the rainy season,” said Mhango.
Production Manager for Mota Engil Malawi Emmanuel Chimtengo, said so far 20 percent of the total construction period has passed and the job will be finished well in advance of the planned schedule.
Construction of the Njakwa-Livingstonia Road was officially opened by His Excellency the President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika as a way of improving the road network in the country.
