Bedi arrived in Malawi for the performance on Thursday, June 18.
Speaking at a joint news conference, TNM Head of Marketing Sobhuza Ngwenya said the premier mobile operator is proud to partner stakeholders at the tourism investment summit by facilitating top quality entertainment to be provided by the acclaimed international jazz man.
He said this is in line with TNM’s commitment to support tourism development in the country.
“Our support and involvement in this forum demonstrates TNM’s commitment in contributing towards government efforts of developing tourism sector in the country,” said Sobhuza.
For his part, Bedi said he is excited to partner TNM with in promoting investment and tourism development at Cape Maclear, where a landmark world-class hospitality resort is expected to be built.
“I understand that the proposed investment shall become a high quality hospitality resort facility within Lake Malawi National Park. I am optimistic my performance on Saturday night will inspire and fire-up delegates to the investment forum to translate their plans into action, for the good of the country’s economy and Africa as a destination,” he said.
Bedi, who is also a UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador, expressed hope of returning to Malawi to launch the facility.
“I have the strong conviction that the project shall be a great success and that soon I will be back in the warm heart of Africa to launch this trend-setting resort on the shores of Lake Malawi,” he said.
As part of the partnership with TNM, Bedi will on Friday participate in a corporate social responsibility undertaking at Mlumbwira Primary School in the city.
The Cape Maclear Investors Forum has attracted over 50 international companies, including Africa’s richest businessman, Nigeria’s Aliko Dangote.
