Malawi records 10 new COVID-19 cases

Malawi has recorded 10 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, soaring the country's caseload for the pandemic to 33.

Chairperson for the Special Cabinet Committee on Covid 19 who is also Minister of Health Jappie Mhango has disclosed this at the Capital Hill in Lilongwe where he is addressing Journalists.

The rise is the highest since Thursday April 2, when Malawi registered its first three covid-19 cases. According to Mhango, all the new cases are from Kaliyeka, one of the densely populated townships in Lilongwe.

Of the five new cases that the Ministry confirmed on Wednesday morning, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Health Dr. Dan Namarika pointed out that four were recorded in Kaliyeka.

Of the 33 confirmed cases in Malawi, three people have since recovered and three have died.
