Government has given motorcycle taxi operators-known as Kabaza six months to insure their motorcycles and secure driving licenses if they are to continue operating on the country’s roads.  


Speaking to the leadership of Kabaza operators at police headquarters in Lilongwe, Minister of Homeland Security Richard Chimwendo Banda said motorcycle operators will be trained by a specified organization at an affordable fee.

Latitude 13 Lilongwe has disclosed its promotion drive targeting local artists and small scale food entrepreneurs in its pursuit to support Malawians amidst COVID 19 pandemic.

Among others, the hotel has organized a contemporary arts exhibition which starts this Friday, 9th to 18th July at the hotel premises in Area 43 in Lilongwe. The Hotel’s General Manager Ronald Stilting said the initiative aims at providing business opportunities and exposure to local players in the hospitality industry while building their capacity.

SPACE SHORTAGE AT DZALEKA

Refugees at the Dzaleka refugee camp in Dowa have expressed concern over space and social – economic welfare challenges. The development follows their recent relocation in line with UN provision that asylum seekers must remain in their designated spaces. As our reporter Mirriam Kaliza explores, the camp which was designated to accommodate 12 thousand refugees is now home to over 50 thousand asylum seekers.

Parliament has passed a constitution amendment bill which among others seeks to create the office of the Deputy Chief Justice. The bill was passed after a rigorous process in which the August house agreed to scrap off a proposal to recruit judges on contract.
