For the first time in history the country's Chief Justice will now have a deputy, this follows a constitutional amendment bill that Parliament passed on Thursday, July 9 2021.
The amendment among others seeks to create the office of the Deputy Chief Justice.
The bill was passed after a rigorous process in which the National Assembly agreed to scrap off a proposal to recruit judges on contract.

Minister of Youth and Sports Ulemu Msungama says the Malawi Olympic team going to Japan will be accompanied by eight officials and not twelve as widely reported in many online platforms.
The Ministers’ remarks follow an outcry from some sections of society claiming that twelve officials will accompany a five athlete Olympic team to Japan, a situation deemed as a drain of government resources.
