As the clock ticks towards the January 30 by-election in Lilongwe South Constituency the ruling Democratic Progressive Party has left no stone unturned in drumming support for its candidate in the elections, Frank Mazizi.

On Sunday, the party’s national director of logistics, Symon Vuwa Kaunda, was at Ndumira ground in the area of Traditional Authority Masambankhunda in the constituency.

His message was to urge the people in the area to vote for Mazizi who he described as the best candidate for the constituency which lags behind in terms of development.

Kaunda who is also Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, said Mazizi is the only candidate that can transform the constituency which is under developed.

“Frank Mazizi is the only candidate who can transform this area. The people here are in need of development. He holds a key to end the hunger that has hit this area. Mazizi being a ruling party candidate is the only one who can bring the much desired development here.

“As you are aware that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is championing that every community must have seven essentials namely, primary school and secondary school, access to potable water, access to electricity, community technical college, hospital and a good road network. So there’s need for a DPP Member of Parliament who can work hand in hand with the President,” said Kaunda.

On his part the DPP shadow MP for the area Mazizi expressed confidence of victory come Thursday. He said his vision is to develop the area which previous legislators from opposition parties have failed, including a good road network and dealing with hunger which has hit the area.

“I have connected well with the people here and I am very much confident of a victory come Thursday. All I want is for the people in this constituency to experience change. They have been voting for opposition legislators before who have failed to develop the area. Now is the time for the people of Lilongwe South to enjoy development through me,” Mazizi said.
