Lottery windfall: Machinjiri veggie seller scoops K51 million

A Blantyre based 28 year old vegetable seller has hit the jackpot by winning K51 million in football betting.

The luckyMachinjiri township man, Andrew Jordan, predicted 23 football games correctly and when he got a call from Premier Bet, one of the betting companies in the country, his story changed the kind of rags to riches fairly tales.


The single ticket he bought for K150 has completely changed his fortunes. Recently Premier Bet organized a function in Blantyre where he was presented with a dummy cheque.


Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the company’s assistant training manager Joseph Malonda said Premier Bet was is excited to have changed Jordan’s life with the MK51 million.


“There are many who cast doubts on the game. We deliver all our promises in sports betting. Giving out this money in succession is a very big achievement and this is what we have been longing for,” said Malonda.


The company has advised its customers to be responsible and manage their finances well before going into betting.On his part, Jordan said his life will never be the same.


He said: “It doesn’t feel good better than this. At first I couldn’t believe the news but now its confirmed am K51 million richer. Since this is a lot of money I will sit down and plan.”


In August, a Chinsapo based businessman won K21 million after betting with only K150.


The company also handed out K109 million to a Blantyre based businessman who won the money on two separate tickets after spending K2, 300 total on the tickets which he correctly predicted 30 games.
