Malawi’s First Lady Professor Gertrude Mutharika on Wednesday awarded a total of $750 in prize money to three outstanding journalists in a story writing competition and 15 scholarships to medical experts to study oncology and fertility in India, as she commended the partnership between Beautify Malawi and Merck Foundation, a Germany charity.

MBC Director General Aubrey Sumbuleta on Wednesday heaped praise on the broadcaster’s radio journalist Charles Chindongo for scooping the first prize of $500 (K367, 000) in the Beautify Malawi (Beam) and Merck Foundation media awards at a luncheon ceremony held at Sanjika Palace.
